Join us for May’s edition of Maker Monday, our monthly slice of creativity, technology, food and beer at our new location Cherry Reds in the heart of Birmingham.
This month, we’re super excited to welcome special guest Sam Aaron. Sam is a superstar in the digital making community and we expect places for this event to go quickly, so grab your FREE place now!
Sam is a creative coder working at the intersection between technology research, education and the arts. He is the creator of the free Live Coding Synthesis environment, Sonic Pi, which is used both by educators teach Computing in schools as well as musicians to perform at international music festivals.
By day Sam works as a Research Associate at the University of Cambridge Computer Laboratory and by night Sam codes music live for people to dance to.
In his highly interactive talk, Sam will introduce the basics of code using Sonic Pi. You will quickly learn how people with no prior coding experience can easily get started whilst having a lot of fun making music at the same time. Sam will then take a fast-paced deep dive into the musical depths Sonic Pi has to offer, ending with a short performance.
This session aims not just to showcase the creative potential of code but to also demonstrate how Sonic Pi can help you unlock your own creative potential.
