[Looking for staff] [Cheltenham] Mid/Senior PHP developers

(Jon) #1

I’ve offered to post a job advert here on behalf of a current client. They are a well-known global e-commerce brand, headquartered a couple of miles north of Cheltenham. They operate a number of e-stores for both consumers and wholesalers, and much of what the outside world sees runs on PHP, MySQL and AWS. The business is in an expansionary period, and so they are currently seeking permanent mid-level and senior engineers.

The company has a mix of existing and green-field projects on at present. There is ongoing maintenance work across the stores (usually involving frontend JavaScript and jQuery, or digging into mobile compatibility/performance issues). Some API micro-services are currently in progress to offer new client-side features. There’s a lot of flexibility in choosing appropriate new technologies: development uses Docker/Compose, and for data persistence, while we mainly use MySQL, we’re starting to look at PostgreSQL and DynamoDB. In framework terms, there’s a mixture of Laravel, Lumen and Silex.

The PHP team is nine engineers presently, plus PMs and leads, and it sits alongside a smaller Java team, which is also expanding. There are some interesting changes afoot, especially in the adoption of agile project management, engineering culture and test automation.

The main advert is here. Applications are taken online, but if you want any more info, feel free to drop questions below, or email the HR manager Simon Amesbury (Simon.Amesbury {at} superdry {dot} com).
