[Looking for Staff][Bewdley] Javascript Engineer

EdShed is a rapidly growing global ed-tech startup, which helps hundreds of thousands of children practise their spelling and maths skills every month. Over the course of the past year, we have grown from a brand-new product to the market leader.

Based in Worcestershire, our product includes mobile apps, a web game and a web-based teacher hub all driven from a central web API.

We are looking for a JavaScript developer to help us continue to develop and improve our web product and other web & mobile assets. Your role will work on existing and new web-based products for the education market globally, focusing on primary education. We have two core products Spelling Shed and Maths Shed, which need a full-time developer to take over from the CTO who built the products.

You will work on Integrating AI components to optimise learning and target-setting, adding to our game to include new gameplay types and developing a new game area as well as overall code quality improvement.

You will be looking for a role that will challenge you, where you can make a big impact, grow your career as our company grows and expect to be part of a great success story.

This role will primarily be based in Bewdley, Worcestershire. We are an equal opportunity employer and are family-friendly. We offer pension, competitive salary and other benefits will be added as we grow.

Requirements

We only ask for three core things!

  • Knowledge of JavaScript web applications especially Vue.js/React.Js/Node.Js
  • Able to work with a git SCM system
  • An eye for good UX and the HTML/CSS skills to deliver for our users

If you have education or gamification experience that will be ideal, or experience in working in a small startup team, although people who want to experience that environment are welcome. You must have a strong understanding of agile, web-based product development and be fun to work with.

We are looking for someone who can share our values and from a product point of view we aim to deliver:

  • The best product
  • The best price
  • The most impact (educationally)
  • Cause the least hassle

Beneath that, we try to align ourselves with our customers and act in an ethical, transparent fashion; we genuinely are on the teachers’ side.
