Bytemark are sponsoring Birmingham.IO

Following an email conversation with @tdobson over the past couple of days, I’m very happy to announce that Bytemark are sponsoring a server for the hosting of the Birmingham.IO community forum.

I’ve got a busy couple of weeks ahead of me, getting everything ready for the transfer from our current host to the new server. I don’t anticipate any major issues with the process (having already completed a proof of concept test run), but I expect there might be issues with things like SSL certificates. I also think that some downtime is unavoidable, but I aim on keeping it to a minimum.

Watch this space for further updates.

PS, if anyone is interested in how this came about, it all started when I had a confused rant about AWS. Being the ever helpful bloke he is, @sil popped along and suggested that I look at Bytemark, which I did, and had some feedback to offer. This prompted @matthewbloch and @tdobson of Bytemark to come along and join the discussion, which eventually lead to the very generous offer of sponsorship.

I’d like to thank everyone involved, as this takes a burden off of me, and makes it easier for this community to continue existing long into the future.
